It often happens that we want to reward the cat by giving him one of the human delicacies, but this is not always healthy because there are foods we eat that can be very dangerous for our furry friends (here is the list). Below you will find a list of 10 foods that do not compromise your cat’s health and that we can give it from time to time.
If your cat bites and eats your plants all the time, then he might like broccoli. Broccoli is a healthy alternative because many plants are toxic and dangerous to cats. (Here is the complete list)
Many cats don’t mind vegetables, so many may be attracted to the taste of carrots. Servile cooked, they are sweeter and softer. You can also try mixing them with some meat and serving it as a hot dish.
Remember that cow’s milk is bad for cats! Find out here why!
In unpasteurized yogurt, however, lactose is totally or largely removed by the action of bacteria. So, a little yogurt now and then doesn’t hurt!
Eggs are an excellent source of protein for the cat, especially scrambled eggs and hard-boiled eggs. Some tricks are necessary: never give raw egg white to your cat! Egg yolk, on the other hand, can be given either raw (in addition, for example, to a homemade recipe) or cooked together with egg white. Raw yolk preserves all the proteins and is a source of nutrition for cats, but try to limit its consumption anyway.
The cat is the carnivore par excellence, like all felines! Raw meat would be preferable, but since there is a possibility that some farms may be infested with parasites (which is unlikely but not impossible!), feed it cooked.
Fish is rich in omega 3, fatty acids and vitamins; it is a fresh and appetizing food, excellent in summer! The danger, unfortunately, is always linked to the poor cleanliness and hygiene of the fish shops and how the fish is treated. To be sure, clean the fish from the intestines (it is there that you can nest a dangerous parasite), wash it well and check that there are no very thin transparent “worms”.
Courgettes are also a great snack, they are not toxic and there is no risk of them causing problems for your cat. Steamed zucchini are easier to eat, but many cats love to eat them raw.
